Trauma-informed and LGBTQ affirming virtual therapy in Brooklyn, NY

You deserve to live life your way.

You have a right to know your feelings and choose what’s best for you.

You have always done the best you could throughout your life. That’s why you’re here. You are here doing your best again to find fulfillment, relief and a life that truly reflects you.

Lately, it’s been especially hard. You’ve noticed feeling sad, anxious, and generally disconnected in your relationships. Perhaps you are wanting greater intimacy and connection with others, but you feel a “block” making it hard to be vulnerable. Being vulnerable and expressing needs is scary and it is too overwhelming to feel that fear again and again.

In day-to-day life, you long to feel “good enough” and to quiet the painful reminders of past rejections and unresolved conflicts from outside and within. You are not alone. If you are of LGBTQ+ identity or questioning, it is very possible that anxiety around intimacy and beliefs about not being “enough” have been reoccurring themes in your past.

I can help you.

Together, we can carve a path that unburdens these heavy feelings of fear and sadness and reduces the power these feelings have over your life. You can feel better. Life is better than this and you deserve it. I believe you. I hear how much you are hurting.

Mallory Mahoney, LCSW

As a queer person and a therapist with years of experience supporting LGBTQ+ community members, I get it. It matters foremost to me that you feel comfortable in our therapeutic space and that is my goal. It is normal to feel nervous (that’s okay!) when starting therapy— you can share about yourself at a pace that feels most natural to you.

While therapy does indeed bring up intense emotional experiences, it can also be fun and enjoyable. I enjoy collaboratively using references that you are interested in as ways to connect to yourself. For example astrology, enneagram types, pop culture, comedy, music, podcasts, books, etc. can all be ways to see yourself and your patterns. I often use humor in therapy and an interactive style to help support you.
